Before opening Thaifoon - Taste of Asia in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2003, Randy Schoch's restaurant experience spanned many years and miles with restaurants stretching from the Hawaiian Islands to the Arizona desert and beyond. Randy got his start in the restaurant industry as a busboy growing up in Orange County, California. After graduating from high school, Randy ventured to Honolulu, Hawaii to pursue his passion for surfing. Randy worked in restaurants to support himself while attending school and soon realized his true calling.

Randy rose to one of the most successful restaurateurs in Hawaii as owner of Nick’s Fishmarket and The Black Orchid. Then, Randy returned to the mainland to work for the nation’s leading steak house, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, as a Regional Vice President and franchisee Owner of Ruth’s Chris in Hawaii. In 1998, Randy combined much of his expertise by bringing Hawaii-based Roy’s Pacific Rim Cuisine restaurants to the desert Southwest and Orange County. Schoch established Roy’s of Scottsdale, Newport Beach and Phoenix as the local owner for the internationally renowned concept, which were among the most successful of Roy’s restaurants around the world until the restaurants were purchased in 2002.

Randy achieved an even greater milestone as the founder and CEO of Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill, with a location in Scottsdale, Arizona and three franchised locations in Denver, Colorado; Stapleton, Colorado; and Chandler, Arizona. Schoch has also retained his franchising roots in Hawaii as the franchise owner of five Ruth’s Chris Steak Houses in Mauna Lani, Lahaina, Wailea, Waikiki, and Honolulu, as well as two Romano’s Macaroni Grill restaurants in Honolulu and Waikoloa. He also serves as the CEO of Desert Island Restaurants, a restaurant management entity.

Along with his commitment to every guest, every time, Randy is also personally committed to the communities where his restaurants are located. Taking an active role in numerous professional and community organizations, Randy is a current member of the Arizona chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization and a board member for the internationally renowned Barrow’s Neurological Institute. Randy has supported the Sex Abuse Treatment Center in Honolulu, Hawaii for multiple decades, and created fundraising opportunities for local charities in conjunction with each restaurant opening.
